Yellow Pages Launches Taste Your Neighbourhood Event

Free guided neighbourhood tours to promote the small businesses behind local gastronomy

Montreal (Quebec), July 14, 2014 – With a century-long legacy promoting the growth and success of small businesses and local restaurants, Yellow Pages will kick off Taste Your Neighbourhood in Toronto and Montreal on July 26. Expanding on the success of the inaugural event held in Montreal last year, Taste Your Neighbourhood will comprise of free guided walking tours lasting 90 minutes each, which take people through the streets of various neighbourhoods in Montreal and Toronto to discover what local restaurants, cafés and micro-breweries are offering.

In collaboration with local business improvement associations, the walks are led by foodies from the area, who know the ins and outs of their respective districts. Those who join Taste Your Neighbourhood walks will learn about the history of each community directly from the mouths of local business owners. Participants will be introduced to hidden local gems and have the chance to experience the uniqueness of the city's neighbourhoods through their taste buds.

"Taste Your Neighbourhood is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting small business and local communities," said François Ramsay, Senior Vice-President of Corporate Affairs for Yellow Pages. "Through events like Taste Your Neighbourhood, we’re encouraging people to get reacquainted with their neighbourhood and provide them the opportunity to discover others. Our lives can be so hectic now that this event gives you the chance to sample local restaurants and cafés you might otherwise never find the time to get to.”

"There's a demand for original events, like Taste Your Neighbourhood, that give you a chance to discover or get reacquainted with the city," said Mike Parente, President of the Association des Sociétés de développement commercial of Montreal. "With this initiative, Yellow Pages has helped create an additional urban experience that helps those of us involved at the local development level continue to support neighbourhood vitality.”
